5 Common Slime Mistakes and How to Fix Them

Avoid These Slime Mistakes!

Even experienced slime makers run into problems. Here are the 5 most common slime mistakes and exactly how to fix them.

Mistake 1: Adding Too Much Activator

Too much contact lens solution or borax makes slime stiff and rubbery. Add activator very gradually, one small drop at a time, and knead between each addition.

Mistake 2: Not Kneading Enough

Slime needs to be kneaded by hand for at least 2-3 minutes to reach the right consistency. Patience is key – don’t rush it!

Mistake 3: Poor Storage

Leaving slime exposed to air dries it out fast. Always seal it in an airtight container immediately after play.

Mistake 4: Using the Wrong Glue

White or clear PVA glue works best. Super glue, UHU or craft glue won’t work and can be dangerous!

Mistake 5: Mixing Colors Too Aggressively

Mixing two differently colored slimes too fast creates a muddy brown. Fold gently to achieve beautiful marble effects.
